Open Source Country
Welcome to the main page of the “Open Source Country” project. All of my thoughts on how to design such a system will be written here.
Aim
To create an online system that makes it easy for a legislative body to create and update a body of law using a version control system + website combination to provide a framework for amending, voting and tracking changes.
Aspects of the project
There are two main aspects to the project. As something very experimental in nature it could fail miserably or become a world changing project that ushers in a new era of transparent government (Cough, cough, hack haaaargh, spit) based on the outcome of either of these aspects.
Technical
Actually creating the site and getting it to work in such a manner as to be accepted by users with a nice interface, sane layout and general all-round user-friendliness.
Social
Getting people to use it, making it easy for people to use it and seeing HOW people use the tools available to them and trying to build up a community to fully simulate a legislative body.
